At New Pathways Clinic, we believe in a holistic approach to mental health and well-being. We are thrilled to announce the launch of our newest initiative, the Ketamine/Spravato Patient Support Group. In our continuous effort to offer maximum support, we have developed this group to empower individuals who are embarking on their journey to mental wellness. The support group is currently held once a month virtually on Wednesdays at 4 PM and is free to any New Pathways patient. The support group is led by Dr. Harry Pepper, a psychologist intimately familiar with Ketamine treatments. Please see below for more details on the support group, and how it can positively impact your mental health journey.

Understanding Ketamine and Spravato

Ketamine, once primarily used as an anesthetic in medical procedures, has gained significant attention for its potential in treating various mental health conditions. Over the years, clinical research on ketamine has shown promising results in the use of ketamine to alleviate symptoms of depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and other mood disorders. Unlike traditional antidepressants that can take weeks to show effect, ketamine has been recognized for its rapid-acting properties, offering relief to patients in a matter of hours or days. At the support group we discuss Ketamine and Spravato (Esketamine) in detail to help patients better understand this new and unprecedented type of treatment. Anything from the actual experience to maximizing benefits, possible side effects, and more will be discussed during meetings.

The Ketamine/Spravato Patient Support Group: A Beacon of Support

Starting Ketamine or Spravato can be both exciting and intimidating, and we understand that having a strong support system is crucial during this time. Our new Support Group aims to create a safe and nurturing environment for individuals who are considering or have recently begun Ketamine or Spravato treatment. Dr. Harry Pepper has created customized programs based on his extensive professional and ketamine supportive experience. Here’s what you can expect from our support group:

  1. Knowledge Exchange: Our support group gatherings will provide a platform for patients to share their experiences, ask questions, and receive guidance from experienced fellow participants and the Executive Director who moderates the group. It’s an opportunity to learn from one another’s journeys and gain valuable insights.
  2. Emotional Support: Dealing with mental health challenges can be isolating, but in our support group, you will find empathy, compassion, and non-judgmental listening from people who understand what you’re going through. Sharing your feelings and experiences can be therapeutic.
  3. Building Resilience: Beyond the immediate support, our group aims to foster resilience and coping strategies. Our goal is to give participants the tools needed to navigate their mental health challenges confidently and to maximize the length of their remissions.
  4. Sense of Community: The support group offers an opportunity to connect with others who are on a similar journey. Building relationships with like-minded individuals can provide encouragement and a sense of belonging. We are always surprised how much our patients have in common regardless of their demographics.
